Community Acupuncture
Focused treatment. Shared setting. More accessible acupuncture.
Community Acupuncture offers a more affordable way to access treatment, particularly when regular or repeated acupuncture may be helpful.
Rather than a full one-to-one appointment, sessions use focused, condition-based treatment approaches selected around the concern you identify before your visit.
Why this format?
Acupuncture can be particularly useful when treatment is repeated over time — but the cost of individual appointments can make regular care difficult to maintain.
Community Acupuncture uses a shared clinical setting and a more focused treatment structure to make ongoing care easier to access. Instead of spending the appointment on an extensive assessment, multiple concerns, or lengthy discussion, the session centres on the main issue you identify beforehand.
You still receive a treatment approach selected for your concern. The difference is that Community Acupuncture does not include the same depth of assessment, privacy, or individualized treatment planning as a standard one-to-one appointment.
How it works
1. Choose your focus
Let me know before your visit what you would most like help with. This allows me to plan a focused treatment approach around your main concern.
2. Receive a focused treatment
Your acupuncture treatment is selected based on that concern, using a more streamlined and condition-focused approach than a full individual appointment.
3. Return when helpful
The shared format is designed to make regular or repeated acupuncture more accessible when ongoing treatment may be useful.
One treatment may be helpful, but acupuncture is often researched — and used clinically — as a series of treatments over time.
What can we focus on?
Community Acupuncture is best suited to concerns that can be approached with a focused, repeatable treatment strategy while you remain in one comfortable treatment position for the duration of the session.
Depending on the treatment, this may be lying on your back, stomach, or side. Because you will not be repeatedly repositioned during the session, some conditions or body areas are better suited to an individual appointment.
Digestive symptoms
Bloating, constipation, irregular bowel habits, abdominal discomfort and selected motility-related concerns.
Headaches and migraine
Acupuncture support for recurring headache or migraine patterns where this format is appropriate.
Stress and nervous system regulation
For persistent tension, difficulty settling, feeling “wired,” and physical symptoms that tend to worsen with stress.
Sleep
Support for difficulty winding down, disrupted sleep and stress-related sleep concerns.
Selected pain and tension concerns
Some areas of pain or muscular tension can be treated effectively within the Community Acupuncture format, provided the necessary points are accessible from a single treatment position.
Other focused concerns
Have something else in mind? Let me know beforehand and I can determine whether it is a good fit for this format.
What to expect
Before your session, you will identify the main concern you would like treated and complete any required intake or safety information.
At your appointment, we will briefly confirm the treatment focus before needles are placed. You will then remain in one treatment position — on your back, stomach, or side — for the duration of the treatment.
Most people should plan to spend approximately 60 minutes at the clinic, with needles typically retained for around 30 minutes.
Wear comfortable clothing that allows reasonable access to the areas being treated.
Because these sessions are designed to stay on schedule, lengthy discussion or reassessment is not part of the Community Acupuncture format.
Which appointment is right for me?
The best format depends on the complexity of your concern, the level of privacy you need, and whether your care is better served by a detailed assessment and discussion or by a focused treatment plan delivered over multiple visits.
